RUDRA and me
PROJECT: RUDRA is a 2D action platformer that combines most, if not all of the things I love about platformers and fighting games.
I owe much of my inspiration to the Nintendo and Capcom of the 90's. The unrivaled animations of fighting games like Street Fighter III and the King of Fighters (SNK), the tight controls of Super Mario World and Megaman X, plus Kirby Superstar's amazing breadth of abilities that can be accessed without ever having to pause the game. Both Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog showed me just how important music can be to creating truly memorable moments.
Oh but there's also the disappointing team integration of Donkey Kong 64! It lit a fire inside me that some day I would make a game that made having separate characters not only meaningful, but the defining element of its design. So when it came time to produce a portfolio in 2008 and all of my art was garbage, I slowly created the world of Rudra until it became what it is today.
I've been inspired by so many things over the years that I just couldn't help trying to borrow from everything for this game. The dense mechanics with simple controls, the snappy anime-inspired animations, the epic melodic soundtrack, and the simple joy of surprise and discovery; PROJECT: RUDRA is my ultimate game. I hope many of you will enjoy it too.
